Treatment for Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is a progressive disease that causes loss of the supporting structures of the teeth - primarily bone. One of the keys in treatment of periodontal disease is early detection and treatment. The earliest form of the disease, known as gingivitis, is very treatable. Once the disease progresses into periodontitis, bone loss results and treatment needs to be more aggressive in order to eradicate bacteria and bacterial deposits on the teeth.
