May 8, 2020

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. Based upon the Governors directive we will resume seeing patients on May 8, 2020.  While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows and exceeds infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and team. For example:

  • An exciting technology that is being installed in all three offices is a system that is now being deployed in hospitals for real time air purification.  The technology channels all air in the office continuously through an ultra violet  LED light which kills the virus and other microbes AND uses a catalytic process that saturates every inch of the air in the office with a hydro peroxide plasma that is lethal to the virus but safe for humans.  This is truly an amazing breakthrough.  Please view on this video:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke54GtDaarQ&feature=youtu.be

  • Commercial ozone generators have been installed at all three offices and will be run at the end of the day for 8 hours when no one is present to further assure that nothing survives in the air or on surfaces.

  • All high touch areas such as door knobs and surfaces will be decontaminated on a regular schedule throughout the day.

  • All team members and doctors will have a no contact temperature reading taken first thing in the morning.  If the temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit they will be sent home until a normal reading is obtained.  If the doctor or team member exhibits symptoms of a respiratory illness, has been in contact with a person testing positive for COVID-19 or has traveled to a hot zone, they will be asked to self quarantine until cleared by a physician

  • All doctors and team members will wear a mask at all times.

  • We have an ample supply of personal protective equipment and will wear N95 respirators, face shields and gowns dependent on the type of procedure.

  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

  • A no contact temperature reading will be taken with a threshold of 100.4 degrees or less to proceed with treatment that day.

  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

  • You see that our reception room will no longer offer magazines since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

  • You may be asked to rinse with hydrogen peroxide in the operatory prior to your appointment.

  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
