Born and raised in Tampa, Dr. Rasmussen graduated from Jesuit High school and pursed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, graduating Cum Laude. He continued in the family tradition and entered the dental field. While still pursuing his undergraduate degree, he began working in both a dental laboratory as well as a dental assistant. As a member of the ACORN clinic, he performed community service to the residents of North central Florida . After his undergraduate education, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama to pursue his dental degree at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Widely regarded as a premier dental education center, the university was a leader in both clinical and research categories, demonstrated by its #1 national ranking in NIDCR funding.

Subsequent to his dental school training, Dr. Rasmussen completed a General Practice Residency program at the University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. This hospital based residency program allowed him the opportunity to further his knowledge and expertise in restorative dentistry and interdisciplinary care. Training at one of the largest Cancer centers in the Southeast United States allowed him the opportunity to work as a team with physicians, and treat both cancer patients as well as other medically compromised individuals. Pursuing his goal of becoming a Periodontist, he completed post-graduate training at the University of Alabama’s Post Graduate Periodontal Residency program. During his residency, he gained extensive experience in implant reconstruction with three-dimensional planning and computer guided surgery. He took a particular interest in soft tissue grafting procedures around natural teeth, which extended naturally to the newest techniques including the Pinhole Surgical Technique after his residency training. During his final year of residency, he served as the Chief Resident, awarded to only one resident in the program each year.

To ensure the most comfortable experience for the patient, Dr. Rasmussen is certified to provide Intravenous Conscious Sedation and continues to train on minimally invasive procedures to ensure the best patient experience possible.

“I apply the knowledge I’ve learned in my training and experience to help dental teams better understand interdisciplinary care which ultimately benefits our patients’ treatment and health.”

Dedicated to being one of the top experts in his field, Dr. Rasmussen participates in continuing education seminars annually and is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, a leading organization focused on advancing the vision of implant dentistry.
